Fire Rated Attic Ladders

A fire rated attic ladder protects the opening it sits in. With the hatch shut, its door and seal are tested to hold back fire for a set time. That makes it a common choice for attic access above an attached garage. You will also see these sold as fire rated attic stairs or fire rated pull down attic stairs.

Every ladder here is made by Fakro and rated for 60 minutes. The LWF 60 is an insulated wood ladder with an R-value of 12. The LMF 60 is a metal ladder for ceilings up to 11'10". The LSF is a metal scissor ladder that needs less room to unfold.

The LWF 60 and LMF 60 were tested to ASTM E119. The LSF is rated to the European standard EN 13501-2. Building codes differ by area, so check with your local building department for the rating your project needs before you order.
